Mozambique Sixth in List and Only One in Africa.

The New York Times places Mozambique in sixth place in its list of 52 Places to Go in 2016, published on January 7th.

"A forward-thinking African leader that offers a terrific mix of safari and beach," is how they describe the country, while its tolerance regarding gender orientation makes it "a more open-minded African destination for LGBT travellers".

"The bustling capital, Maputo, is experiencing a budding tolerance, while advocacy groups like Lambda Moz continue to help de-stigmatize homosexuality countrywide," reads the report.

It goes on to describe "Mozambique’s tranquil coast" which "continues to draw travellers of all kinds in search of post-safari snorkel and surfing options".

Mozambique is the only African destination in this list.
