New rules for children under 18 years old.
As from 1 June 2015, all children under 18 years old, traveling to and from South Africa (or even in transit in this country), independent of the respective nationality, will be required to present the passport and unabridged birth certificate, as well as other official documents that vary according to the situation of children: accompanied by both parents, by only one parent, accompanied by an adult other than the parents or unaccompanied.

CHILD WITH BOTH PARENTS
Passport and unabridged birth certificate.
CHILD WITH ONE PARENT
Passport and unabridged birth certificate.
Affidavit/Court order/Death certificate (if applicable), from the other parent granting permission for the child to travel.
CHILD WITH ADULT OTHER THAN THE PARENTS
Passport and unabridged birth certificate.
Affidavit/Court order/Death certificate (if applicable), from both parents or legal guardian granting permission for the child to travel.
CHILD UNACCOMPANIED
Passport and unabridged birth certificate.
Affidavit/Court order/Death certificate (if applicable), from both parents or legal guardian granting permission for the child to travel.
Letter from person receiving the child in South Africa, including their contact full details and a certified copy of their passport or ID.
NOTE:
All documents must be originals or certified copies of the original.
The documents issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a certified translation issued by the authority of the country concerned.
